CVB MEMBER SELECTED AS KENTUCKY SPORTS AUTHORITY BOARD MEMBER
Governor Appoints CVB’s Amy Cardwell
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Governor Steve Beshear appointed Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Sports Marketing Director Amy Cardwell to the Kentucky Sports Authority Board of Directors. Cardwell currently represents Bowling Green on TEAM Kentucky, a collection of communities and organizations throughout the state that work together to recruit and attract sporting events.
Cardwell will represent the at large members of TEAM Kentucky on KSA’s Board of Directors. Her term will expire January 4, 2012. Other board members selected at this time are Charles Haddaway IV of Pleasure Ridge Park, Michael Pitino of Louisville, Charles Sutterlin of Louisville, Paul Rogers of Louisville, and James Hill of Louisville.
“We are very happy that Amy has joined the KSA board,” Kevin Nuss, Executive Director of the Authority, said. “As the TEAM Kentucky representative, she brings a wealth of sports marketing and sports events experience, as well as a “can do” attitude, to our group.”
Created in 2005, KSA is the statewide agency responsible for working with individuals, communities, and other entities in the Commonwealth to attract, retain, create, and promote professional and amateur sporting events, conventions, franchises, and organizational headquarters for Kentucky. Its purpose is to generate tourism, economic development, jobs, and positive media exposure as well as promote exercise and wellness through sports activities.
“Amy’s involvement with TEAM Kentucky has already thrust Bowling Green into the forefront of the minds of sporting events’ planners and representatives in the Kentucky Department of Travel,” BGACVB Executive Director Vicki Fitch said. “This appointment will allow her to continue building those relationships and become more involved in the decision-making process at the state level.”
