Kentucky Museum

If you think the Bluegrass state is only horses and bourbon, then step into this 80,000 sq. ft. museum dedicated to the history of Southern Kentucky. In the dynamic Civil War exhibit titled "A Star in Each Flag: Conflict in Kentucky," visitors can walk through a simulated campsite, view a fabricated slave cabin and original copy of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and examine period artifacts including John Hunt Morgan's saddle, weapons and more. Then explore some sweet history in the “Recommended by Duncan Hines” exhibit and follow the career of the Bowling Green native from traveling salesman to esteemed restaurant critic to cake-mix king. Other exhibits include The Snell-Franklin Decorative Arts Gallery, Roads, Rails and Rivers: Warren County Then and Now, and the Felts Log House.

Don't miss the Museum Store featuring Kentucky-made items like gourmet sauces, reproduction jewelry, Chenille Teddy Bears, pottery, woven rugs, and more.

Meeting Space
The Kentucky Room, located on the 2nd floor of the museum, has 3,000 sq. ft. and can hold 200 banquet or theatre style and 400 reception style. The Garden Gallery holds 30 banquet style.

Hours: Monday - Saturday 9am-4pm. Closed on Western Kentucky University holidays. *2011 Holiday Hours: The Kentucky Museum will be closed for Thanksgiving November 23-27 and for Christmas December 18- January 1. The Museum Store will remain open through Dec. 21 and reopen Jan. 2.
