Kentucky Book Festival Frankfort, Ky. – The Kentucky Tourism Council has selected the Southern Kentucky Book Festival as one of the Commonwealth’s spring “Top Ten” events. Held in Bowling Green at the Sloan Convention Center on April 20-21, this annual event’s goal is to encourage reading and the love of books for all ages. Featured at the festival are book signings, film/video competition, author presentations as well as dramatic and musical presentations. Sponsors of the SOKY Book Festival include Western Kentucky University Libraries, Bowling Green Public Libraries and Barnes & Noble. A panel of impartial judges selects the Kentucky Tourism Council “Top Ten” events for each season. Criteria for selection include popularity of the event, its impact on the local tourism economy as well as cultural and historical significance. The Kentucky Tourism Council is a 565-member statewide association representing all sectors of the state’s travel industry. The Council’s mission is to unite Kentucky’s third largest industry through governmental interaction, communication and education. # |
