Bowling Green, Ky.—October 22, 2015—The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau received three bronze awards at the 2015 Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s (KTIA) Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing competition.
The CVB received Bronze Awards for Social Media, Annual Reports and Visitors Guide categories during the Traverse Gala held at the Sloan Convention Center as part of the 2015 KTIA Annual Conference.
“We’ve been integrating more of our destination branding into marketing and promotional materials this year,” Marissa Butler, Marketing Director at the CVB, said. “We implemented our ‘geared for fun’ tagline in our annual report and new Visitors Guide design.”

“People are enjoying our #gearedforgiveaways social media contests and becoming more engaged with what Bowling Green has to offer,” Telia Butler, Public Relations Manager at the CVB, said. “By promoting special events, lodging and attractions in giveaways every month, we’re working on generating both visitor and local awareness of what’s going on in the city.”
Janet Henderson, Group Sales & Services Manager at the CVB, received the Rookie of the Year Award at the KTIA Conference, for her completion of two tourism certifications within one year, attending all KTIA events since she began her membership, her assistance in planning this year’s annual conference in Bowling Green and having a profound impact on the tourism industry.
Kentucky travel and tourism businesses and marketing organizations vie for awards during the annual competition produced by KTIA. A panel of out-of-state experts judge entries from across the state for this year’s presentation of awards. Traverse are open to KTIA members marketing a tourism product or service in Kentucky.
KTIA is a Frankfort-based state association that represents every segment of Kentucky’s tourism industry. The 300+ member association offers continuing education programs, works in the area of governmental relations, produces statewide travel conferences each year and provides legislative advocacy for Kentucky’s travel industry.
