Bowling Green, Ky. – August 4, 2015 –Bowling Green was named a Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine Top Towns 2015 nominee yesterday. The magazine announced 48 contenders for its fourth annual Top Towns Reader Contest.
The Blue Ridge boasts dozens of towns with vibrant outdoor scenes and access to world-class adventure meccas with biking, climbing, hiking and water trails. Readers, residents, and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds are invited to vote for their favorite towns.
The Top Towns contest is divided into three categories, based on size of the towns. The first round of voting runs through Aug. 16, with subsequent rounds of voting concluding Sept. 13. The three winning towns will be featured in the November issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors.
Bowling Green’s first round voting match-up is against Roanoke, Va. As of today, Roanoke is winning the match-up at 86 percent versus Bowling Green’s 14 percent. Voting runs now through Aug. 16, so cast your vote for Bowling Green to make it to the next round.
“Bowling Green’s proximity to Mammoth Cave National Park and its abundance of hiking, biking, equestrian and water trails provide outdoor recreational activities that make south central Kentucky’s cave country an adventure destination,” Telia Butler, Public Relations Manager at the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, said. “With a growing number of recreational businesses and rising interest in organizations like the BG Riverfront Foundation, the Cave Region Trails Initiative, and the Children in Nature Movement at Lost River Cave, Bowling Green is quickly becoming an outdoor enthusiast’s mecca.”
