Bowling Green, Ky.—January 22, 2014—Vicki Fitch, Executive Director of the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, will serve on two statewide tourism executive boards in 2014. Elected to these positions, Fitch will be representing Bowling Green area tourism and convention activity.

Fitch was elected Secretary of the Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA) 2014 Board of Directors at the KTIA Annual Conference held November 6-8, 2013, in Louisville. KTIA unites the state’s most progressive and innovative travel tourism-related businesses and organizations through advocacy, collaboration and professional development.

Also elected to the Kentucky Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (KACVB) Executive Committee, Fitch will serve as Vice President (President-Elect) in 2014. A non-profit Kentucky association with membership exclusive to executive directors of tourism and convention commissions across the state, KACVB increases public awareness and understanding of the convention and visitors industry’s economic and social contributions to society, monitors and influences government policies that affect the industry and establishes and maintains strong relationships with government and tourism organizations while supporting high standards of professionalism and providing educational opportunities for members.

“It’s an honor and great milestone to be given the opportunity to serve as officers for both KTIA and KACVB,” Fitch said. “Tourism made an economic impact of more than $350 million in Bowling Green in 2012 and I’m looking forward to representing interests for tourist and convention activity in 2014.”

Tourism is the third largest industry in Kentucky and generated over $12 billion of statewide economic activity in 2012.
