BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- November 1, 2010 - The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has a great deal of admiration for the city they are charged with promoting, and now they want to spread that love of the people, the heritage and the community. The CVB launched today a new ‘I Love BG’ campaign and will distribute buttons with that message to businesses and organizations across the city in hopes of fostering a positive spirit throughout the community.
“There is just so much negativity in the world these days and there have been some really hard times lately,” said Leon Volkert, member of the CVB Board of Directors and owner of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. “But even through the bad times, Bowling Green really is a nice place to be and truly a great place to live,” he said.
Volkert, along with other board members and the CVB staff, would like to see the buttons serve as a reflection of that positive attitude and as a reminder of all the good that is right here. More than simply a hospitality industry movement, the group hopes the city, Chamber of Commerce, and the business community will embrace and collectively develop the idea.
“We are going into the slower season for tourism, so this was a great time to launch a grass-roots campaign such as this,” said CVB Executive Director Vicki Fitch. “I hope we have requests for thousands of these buttons during the off-season so that over the next year our visitors will see the message everywhere and ask ‘What makes this place so special?’”
The buttons will be available free of charge for a limited time and can be ordered for your staff or organization by calling 270-782-0800 or by email to info@visitbgky.com. Share reasons why you love Bowling Green on the ‘I love bg’ Facebook page for a chance to win prizes.
